Hello Art Fans, I just wanted to quickly update you as to when my art exhibition will be! In case you didn’t know, I will be having my first Solo Exhibition at the Rourke Art Gallery in Moorhead, MN this summer. The show begins Friday, July 6th with a members preview party, 5:30 to 7:00 (Public is welcome and it’s FREE!) and Sunday, July 8th with a Public Opening (FREE) 1:30 to 5:00 and continues on through August 12th.
The artwork will be my oil paintings, full of color and expressiveness and somewhat controlled realism (ha). The theme of the show is “Sad Loves, Dark Lives and Restless Dreams”. Sound interesting or what? It’ll be cool, with two levels of art, (perhaps 50 pieces) hanging in the old house converted into a gallery. The Rourke Art Gallery, in South Moorhead, is over 130 years old, and was opened as a gallery by James O’Rourke, in the early 1960’s. This house, first built by Ole Martinson in 1875 is on the historical registry. Martinson actually ran a jewelry store in Moorhead. An interesting sidebar, my father, Marvin Weispfenning, worked for Martinson, and mowed the lawn at his house!
So, won’t you please come to this show sometime during it’s run this summer? It’ll be a fun time for everyone and you can critique my paintings all you want! OK? Thanks, and keep tuned for more updates…
Here’s the address: The Rourke Art Gallery, 523 South 4th Street Moorhead, MN.
Hours: Friday – 1:00 PM to 5:00 PM or by Appointment on Saturday and Sunday. All you have to do is call ahead (218-236-8861) and someone will be there to let you in.
