I’d like to thank all the wonderful people who came to my recent Opening Receptions at the Rourke Art Gallery in Moorhead, MN. You made it a great success! My painting exhibition looks amazing and I hope many more people can come to see it. It’ll remain up until August 12th, 2012. The entire gallery is filled with 55 of my paintings… 3 floors of Art! Plus, if you like old houses, you’ll love this one, built in 1875.
I have to admit, my stomach was a bit filled with butterflies before the opening reception on Friday night. The evening reception, billed as the “Member’s Preview” was open to anyone who visited. Much wine & cheese, coffee & cookies and fun atmosphere were free for the taking. Soon after the opening, some of us met at the Avalon Ballroom (the old Conservatory) in Fargo, ND for a delicious dinner. I had a great baked lasagna and Sarah and I shared a bottle of wine. Later that night, we went to the Hotel Donaldson (or the “HoDo” as the locals call it) for some beer swilling and late nite chatting.
Sarah and I stayed in the Radisson Hotel, Downtown Fargo! It was a fun filled Friday, and Saturday, was spent sleeping and/or watching movies on cable. My tummy was still a bit nervous, so we skipped partying, and just laid low!
On Sunday, the “Public Opening”, I was to give a short gallery talk. Yikes! I’d spent many hours writing notes and rehearsing the speech, and thanks to my college speech class it went pretty well. Sarah recorded it, but I haven’t listened to it yet, for fear I may get embarrassed, ha! There were a lot of people in attendance for my talk, and I felt really overwhelmed! It’s been a while since I have done any public speaking.
The openings all went well, and the Rourke Art Gallery staff treated me very nicely! What a professional looking exhibition, if I do say so myself! They hung the paintings expertly and took the time to arrange all 3 floors perfectly. Please come to see the show if you can! It’ll be up until August 12th.
